Every year about this time I receive a free newspaper in my rural mailbox, “The Epoch Times.” As I read through the articles nearly everything I see is about rehashing all the same old conspiracy theories about; voter fraud, the stolen 2020 election, CDC vaccine cover ups, how immigrants are destroying our nation, and how the rule of law is being destroyed to “get Trump” and Climate Change is a hoax.

So– I did some research to see just who publishes this “newspaper?” I have to say that I was surprised to find it was founded and funded by a Chinese/ American religious group named “ Falun Gong” that was set in China. Who actually funds the paper is not clear but they made a giant shift to the far right in 2016 when they saw Trump as an ally in their crusade against China. Little is publicly known about the precise ownership, origins or influences of “The Epoch Times” and it is loosely organized into several regional tax-free nonprofits, under the umbrella of the Epoch Media Group, together with New Tang Dynasty Television.

I hope we as Americans can now see that it is outside forces that do not have our country’s best interest at heart but their own who push these lies and misinformation.
